ABC Mental Health
A mental health and wellness hospital franchise that is committed to your wellbeing. Our company facilitates both virtual and in-home visitations to ensure all Canadians are being taken care of. As part of our commitment to our patients, we have restructured our platform to better streamline our processes and provide better care.
Hospital Dashboard
The web page is designed to be a central hub for the hospitals to hold all doctor profiles, patient databases, generated revenue, and more. This helps staff gain high-level insights and control over operations without the need to consult various resources. The centralized system is created to be highly intuitive and efficient and streamlines processes so users can do more at once, shaving off the extra steps.
ABC Mental Health App
Home
Home: This is the patient-facing app that enables patients to access our services right at their fingertips. Patients can scroll through 100s of certified and available doctors to book sessions with.
Doctor Profile
Profile Viewing: To learn more about our vetted pool of doctors, users can click on doctor profiles to read through reviews left by other patients and get information around pricing and the type of sessions provided by the doctor.
Booking Sessions
Booking: The booking process on the app is fairly straightforward, once a user has selected their desired doctor, they can click “book appointment” on their profile and are directed to the doctor’s calendar where the patient can select a date and time to confirm their booking.
Virtual Meeting/Chatbot
Virtual Meeting/Chatbot: The app helps facilitate virtual sessions through a video conference tool integrated into the system. In addition to booking doctors for either virtual or in-person consultations, patients also have access to an AI bot chat feature where they can talk about general concerns regarding their health. This AI is trained in CBT and has been programmed to generate results related to mental health terminologies. However, the bot is not made for diagnoses. If patients are suffering a crisis or need professional attention, the bot will automatically connect them to certified doctors on the app.
The Process
At first, the brief seemed very high-level and I was having trouble kickstarting my mock-ups. I got over this initial freeze-up by looking through inspiration on Dribble, considering I’ve never designed for medical apps before this step was vital in gaining a sense of familiarity with what best practices are when designing for health-centred applications.
I then broke into the design process by sketching my screen concepts on paper. Once I decided on a layout and concept that best reflected the client’s requirements, I wireframed it in XD and converted it into high fidelity. At this stage, I reflected back on the provided branding guide to ensure that my final mockups are staying true to the brand’s personality. The 3 rand personality principles that I reflected in my final designs were: Sleek, Trendy & pragmatic.
How?
Sleek: The design showcases a clean aesthetic that is easy to navigate.
Trendy: Having familiarized myself with the work of other designers, I was able to pick up on trends best suited for digital healthcare products.
Pragmatic: The client’s asks being front and centre, I applied my knowledge of UX by organizing their needs in a fashion that relays sensibility and perceivability for both the client and the consumer.
The Design System
Colour Choices:
White: White is the most obvious colour choice, as it represents cleanliness and sterility.
Blue hues: Blue is the most overwhelming colour used in the healthcare design, blue is a calming colour. where the patients or customers feel peace and calm to use.
Green: Green is the second popular colour, as in the context of healthcare, as it’s safe and assumes growth and vitality.
Type Choice:
Nunito and Open Sans are well-balanced font pairings that are also websafe. In the context of designing a health care app, this font pairing isn’t too distracting and gets the information across to users in a clear and succint way.
